S49 Review

Written by Team Oasis at 11:57 15/11-2019

Never too late to look back. So here's some documentation about our previous season. Like season 48 we had a more modest approach and picked only one major target.

  Palmares not expanded
The season was eventually dedicated to Vuelta a Valparaiso. We went allin for a third time but failed to bring the GC home. Seyhan did a good job with 2nd in GC for the 2nd time but it felt like a pity. The winner though didn't make any mistakes so it as the well-deserved winner. We also tried our luck at Volta but preparation was too late to be able to go allin. It started of nicely but some offdays gave a final verdict of just 8th in GC. Humberto did not shine like in his youthly years.

  DH-squad recovers
Since we had to keep our points under control focus was shifted back again to our DH-squad. Our first two races were bleak but we found our mojo back in Dibola - Denau. A total of 5 results of which 3 wins can be called a decent recovery. Most importantly is that Rashad-Abdul Karim starts to show his promise.

  Cruising along
For the rest of the season the team had just been cruising along. At the start of the season keeping track of the amount of points, then later on just picking races to join and see where it ends. We had 8 scoring riders whic gave a total amount of 17 results. One of our better seasons and in the light of having not much of a clear direction could be classified as a succesful season without having any highlights.

  Main targets
Vuelta a Valparaìso finished 2nd in GC due to better opposition

  Side targets
Win a new race: Climbs of Pinchor won by Per Neuländtner.
Volta ao Porto finished 8th in GC, disappointing but 1 stage win
Ainet - Bruggen decent 6th, but a bit unsatisfied.

  Unplanned targets
Cymru Taith finished 8th in GC and 1 stage result, positive outcome
World Championship nice 6th for being unprepared.

well that this season, not the season before. Its not that he had a remarkable palmares upon that point. It was when he hit 2nd in Elias Marquez followed by 6th in WC that i started to believe in it.

What? The guy is the #1 rider in the entire game. You're underselling his achievements. :)
